Marble Magnets
Materials Needed:
Old magazines
3/4 inch round magnets
3/4 inch glass nuggets (flat glass marbles)
Silicon sealer glue
Scissors
Pencils
Empty small metal containers (e.g. Altoids)
Paper Towels
Description:
1. Participants begin by grabbing old magazines and looking for small pictures that they like. They should have a magnet to make sure that the pictures they choose are small enough.
2. With the magnet over a chosen picture or design, use the pencil to trace around the magnet. Cut the selection out.
3. Glue the picture onto the magnet (note: some magnets are only magnetic on one side.). Either white glue or the silicon sealer may be used for this. Allow some drying time before moving to the next step.
4. Place a SMALL amount of silicon sealer on top of the picture that has been glued to the magnet.
5. Place the glass nugget on the magnet and press. The silicon should fill any air pockets, making the picture show through clearly. Remove any excess silicon that has squeezed out around the edges.
6. Make an entire set, place them in your metal tin (which you may also decorate).

Full-color publisher's catalogs are another good spot for small pictures - especially when they list backlist titles. Lots of cool but tiny photos!
